Mattew chapter 11 verse 24

But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of sodom, in the day of judgment, than for thee.

I think what the bible is saying is it is more tolerable for the land to destroy it self than it is for people to destroy themselfs in other words don't go around killing each other or hurting each other. Sod·om 1 (sdm)
A city of ancient Palestine possibly located south of the Dead Sea. In the Bible, it was destroyed along with Gomorrah because of its wickedness and depravity.

I would take it to mean that just as Sodom was destroyed by God for the evil and sinful behavior so also would those who failed to believe in the Lord Jesus be condemed to destruction.

Jesus was speaking about the cities who did not accept him despite the fact that Jesus had performed many miracles and was referring to an Old Testament incident. Read Genesis 18 and 19 for background on Sodom. Sodom was destroyed because of its wickedness.

have to take it in context from 20-24. I am not scholar or anything, but in general Jesus was warning all those that had seen his works and failed to repent, that on judgement day, they would suffer a fate worse that what happened to the city of Sodom.

"'...But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.'"
-Matt 11:24

In the Old Testament Sodom and Gomorrah were wicked cities which God destroyed. Jesus was telling the people He was talking to that although they thought they were so great, they would be judged like those from Sodom (even though they were God's chosen people) because they were prideful.

It simply means that if the people in the cities that He performed all the
miracle's didn't believe that Jesus was the true messiah ; they were worse than the people in Sodom who were so evil and they would be judged more harshly than the people of Sodom.
