Me and a male friend, with whom I have had a romantic relationship with a few years ago, have remained friends after the break up. He is there for me when things are going wrong and I him. However I find it very hard to initiate contact with him. I find it very hard to call him for whatever reason. I actually feel scared. I mean when we are together I feel great. We have great conversations and we have alot in common. However I have this anxiety about initiating contact. When he calls me, I respond pleasantly. My fear is puzzling to me.

Do you feel as of he doesnt want you to call him? I feel the same way, and i ask myself why i do, and the answer seemed to come to me that its fear of not wanting me to call her. Just tell him that its hard to call him over your fear, but initial as its important to keep a friendship, in your case it may even be that you need to feel more wanted, since u had a relationship and it fell apart, so you need to tell him everything. God Bless You And Good Luck!!!

You might be scared that he'll take it like you want to get back together. I highly doubt that will happen. I also have a boyfriend that was my friend, only we aren't over yet. I find it hard to imagine what it will be like if we break up. I say that you should call him next time you have a problem, or even if you just want to talk. I find that if you call with a problem, made up or real, you end up having a great conversation. You'll be glad you did.

Well getting romantically involved with a friend changes everything. I'm sure this applies also to post-break up friends. Maybe you haven't really had closure because he's still in your life as a friend. Maybe you should have a heart to heart with him and you can figure out if this is just a friendship or if there's still something more.

Talk to him about it. I cant see any reason to be scared. I always feel a little nervous, but not scared. These kind of male friends can be some of the best friends you will ever have.
