I just started a job where I am on my feet all day, but I don't remember doing anything to hurt it, but it kills me by the end of the day. Also, I can't wear tennis shoes to work to help support it. What can cause your ankle to just start hurting all of a sudden?

it happens to me too, your feet are probably just not used to carrying your weight all day, try stretching at work as often as you can.

Same thing happened with me except it started on my big toe. I wake up at 2 in the morning and it is swollen. I go to the emergency room and tell the DR I think I rolled over in my sleep and hit my toe and broke it. He looked at it and ordered a blood test. I said, Hey doc, I broke it I need an xray. He said I am the DR and you will get a blood test. Turns up I have GOUT. It usally starts up in the toe, foot or ankle and you inherit it. It can start at any age and is incureable but treatable.
look up gout on the internet and you can see if your symptoms co-inside.
Hope this helps

pretty much everybody here has an answer that could be right...it's also possible to sprain the ankle without knowing it at the moment it happens.
good luck
