Monster Maker was a Jim Henson short film for TV, and I was 8 years old when I last saw it. I remember a boy looking at a control panel, and a massive animatronic dragon in a warehouse. The dragon was called Ultragorgon. The dragon began to speak to the boy and the boy thought it was real and would have conversations with him. It turned out that the boy's friend or teacher/apprentice, played by Michael Gambon, was actually controlling the dragon the whole time and it wasn't real like the boy thought, however as the film ended you saw the shadow of the dragon as it flew over some houses or something.

Can anyone suggest anywhere I can get a copy of it again? I have tried eBay and took drastic measures by looking on file-sharing programs but no luck. Any suggestions?

It wasn't Michael Gambon who was the man, Michael Gambon was the voice of the dragon. The actor who played the man who was the creator and controller of the Ultragordon dragon was Harry Dean Stanton.

I don't think it's commercially available

Here's the Henson page: http://www.creatureshop.com/
Here's IMDB - the Amazon link in the top right indicates there are no DVD or VHS versions available: http://imdb.com/title/tt0097906/
