I lost all of my music, i had about 5300 songs (all legal). Is there anyway i can get them back, because i sold alot of my CDs back. I know that system restore won't get them back because it was on my external harddrive. And i know that the system would not have put them in the recycle bin because it was too large. (don't let your roommates use your external harddrive while you are gone) As far as i know, it's not possible, but i pray that i am wrong.

You could look into Norton restore or GoBack.

Try DriveSavers. It is a little spendy, but 5300 songs may be worth it.

Was the computer reformatted? If not, try searching for the songs, I'm guessing the extension was mp3 or something. Whatever it was go into search, search files and folders, make sure everything is marked in more advanced option. then in the search box type *.mp3 (or what ever extension they were using).

If it was reformatted, your going to have to go out and buy a recovery lost data program. Stomp Soft makes one it cost about 40 dollars. Work pretty good at getting back music and pictures. It will take three or more hours for the scan to complete.

I have almost that many songs and to be sure they don't get lost I backed them up to data DVD.
