Well I know how you feel. Everybody says gymnastics isn't a sport and that really ticks me off because for 9 years I trained my *** off and worked really hard just like any soccer player or basketball player. Anyways just don't listen too them. Their jacka*** and can't admit cheerleading is a sport.

I understand. I agree cheerleading is a sport. It takes practice, athleticism, and team work. plus, probably a lot more that i just don;t know. I do empathize, some people don;t think running is a sport either.

well,i am not a cheerleader, but i do know of people who are cheerleaders. i am at a lost of words,as to why cheerleading isn't considered as a sport. i thought it was was, because band is also considered as a sport (it takes over physical education)at our high school.so,basically,i can't give you an answer to your conundrum...since i am asking the same question myself. but if your question is why cheerleading isn't considered as a "serious" sport,it may lie in the years of stereotyping of "blonde" girls, who wear "short" dresses who are cheerleaders, which in my opinion is sad. but none the less, this prespective does exist in many peoples' point of view of overall "cheerleading". but don't kill yourself over this issue, the more you try to defend the idealism of cheerleading...the more you lose the whole reason of cheerleading, which is to have fun (while working hard)

I think it is because of the actual competition. While a cheerleader needs to be in great shape and exerts herself quite a bit during any sort of performance, there is no actual game going on.

I for one think that cheerleading is a sport. The reason some people do not think it is in my opinion is because the athletes are usually the types of girls who seem to not bee as tom-boyish, and more of the girly girls.

Because they have never done it!Icheerleaded for 3 years,we ran as many laps in the hot sun around the football field,we did push ups,sit ups, pull ups, tumbling, shouting, dance, marching in the rain or hot sun with a huge smile on your face, even if you had cramps or a pulled muscle, plus keep a b average or get demerits!!However i did love it and would not trade my experience, but it is most definatly a sport!!!!!!!!p.sthe people who say no probably just didn't make the team.they're bitter!
