italy plays an amazing defensive game and klose, ballack, and podolski combined could not get past it.
i was VERY happy italy won...
now lets hope portugal can beat france!!!

I must agree.........the better team won.........Italy played their hearts out and really the Germans were outclassed by a better team!!

Germany played well but I have to say Ballack never got his groove. If it wasn't for Podolsky they hardly would've had any good chances at the goal. That guy is fierce man and he's Polish he he he!!! Why can't we have him!!! But the Italians were faster. Even Podolsky couldn't outrun CAMORANESI. And putting Del Piero at the end worked brilliantly. He got their spirits high again. And Gattuso is also a great runner. Finally Italy showed everybody how good they are. The Germans had a huge advantage playing at home but it didn't seem to help them in the end - maybe the pressure got to them and failing to score throughout the game brought them down. In the end Italy just outplayed Germany.

I was impressed by Germany. I think that Italy had a lot of chances, but Germany had quality chances. As an overall game I think just a little more luck would've won the game for Germany. Keep in mind that had they not lost control in the last few minutes they most likely would've won the shootout. I'm very impressed with Italy though.

you are so write...i was hoping germany would win but after a feew minutes into the game, i was rooting for italy because they were playing really good...i was type happy italy won too because considering the game they played and how germany was NOT getting past their defense...and im hoping portugal can win against france too!! VIVA PORTUGAL!!! all the way baby!

It was almost predictable. I am happy too for Italy. But I think France will win to Portugal, and the final will be extremely exciting!

I was happy. Italians are accused of defensive play but they were the only ones trying to avoid the penalty shootout. Tomorrow, Portugal will beat France in 90 minutes.
Keep your eyes open for Pauleta: he'll score the first hat-trick of the tournament!
