It's actually nobody's business how much you make. Anyone who would ask is incredibly nosy and shouldn't be trusted with any information they get. Not every question is asked out of sheer curiosity, even fewer questions are asked out of genuine concern. Some people MISUSE information. That's why you don't share personal (yeah, I said it) information with people unless they are absolutely trustworthy. Once again, anyone other than your spouse or a prospective employer who asks how much your income is - is not a person you want to tell!

Because they either dont wanna be embarassed, or they dont wanna brag... My dad makes a SHITLOAD of money, but he won't even tell me how much he makes because he doesn't want to brag... My mom on the other hand should be embarassed by how little she makes so she'd prolly be embarassed if someone asked....

In most companies, they don't allow you to talk about it, because they pay people unfairly & they don't want everyone to know that. People judge you (but they shouldn't) by how much you make -even children compare and judge you - so if you don't tell they can't judge you.
