The US has a rudimentary missile defense system that's capable of eliminating the one long-range missile North Korea tried to test (it failed shortly after launch). Why would we retaliate militarily if we were not directly threatened?

Well, we have to do something. These missiles were both a test and a warning. North Korea has no intention of complying with the UN's request to stop missile testing. They are in a position where they could easily hit Japan and America's east coast. I have no idea what we should do. We have troops on the DMZ in Korea that could be moved into action but that might just incite them more. Bush better pull his head out and thing of something.

Obama is dealing with North Korea precisely as GW Bush did. Why grew to become into it purely precisely the excellent difficulty to do whilst Bush did it, even with the incontrovertible fact that that's totally incorrect whilst Obama does it? Kim is attempting to get interest by employing testing weapons. Bush handed over him, and Obama is purely too. North Korea has neither the purpose nor the aptitude of attacking the U. S.. and that they have got no longer something to earnings by employing it. Kim is acquainted with, and Obama is acquainted with, and that i know, and doubtless you recognize, that ninety% of North Koreans stay in one city. One incredibly small nuke (Hiroshima sized) from an American submarine might desire to absolutely wipe out North Korea. Do you think of it is how Kim desires to be remembered? I recommend, we constantly talk approximately our enemies as though they are irrational, yet none of them have been -that- loopy. each u . s . a . has the excellent to look after itself, and that consists of development and testing weapons, as long as they do no longer endanger others. so a procedures Kim hasn't. So what's the problem?

Unless they were going directly for the U.S. mainland we shouldn't retaliate. It's like having a kid that you don't like that much doing the move with fists at their sides looking like they are ready to fight but just demonstrating their reaction to your fist fire. They only did a long ranged missile capable of hitting the U.S. and fired it into the Sea of Japan as a scare tactic, if we retaliate they will open war on us!

NO because they were not aimed at us all they were trying to do is scare us into attacking them. They have one long range missile that could hit us and that is what we are worried about and if they attack us they will get their butts beat by the US of A.

Why retaliate? They were not fired at the U.S. but into the Sea of Japan. Japan should worry more and so should the countries in the close area.

North Korea fired missiles to strategic sites (non US). Do you really think they are stupid enough to attack USA. They're just testing their missiles. Sit back and enjoy the show. Thanks for the ballistic missile (2 points) you just launched at me. LOL

What? By testing 4 of it's own? Today's missiles were a test, not an attack.

Why should we care, we lanch test missles all the time. Others do too, we can not control every test by every country. It is a test of a missile that is all.
