Saltines never worked for me. And there are too many non-ginger gingerales' out there.

Key is to keep yourself hydrated, and nourished. You probably won't feel "hungry" right now - and everything smells...well, funny!

Eat what you're hungry for, when you're hungry - in SMALL amounts. Sometimes I'll eat a couple bites of creamed spinach, for some reason the urge hits me every now and then. Try chicken soup - this always worked for me. Make sure that you're drinking plenty of water - couple of sips, as often as you can. I like those new vitamin waters - they help keep me nourished.

Try this trick - 1/2 unisom (gel caps work best, and only a half!) with a B6 vitamin, closer to bedtime. It may still make you sleepy!

And, call your doctor. I waited and waited, thought I could just get through it...finally called my doctor after 2 horrible weeks, who said why didn't you call me sooner? He prescribed Zofran for me, an instant-dissolve non-nausea medicine.
I found out that with the excessive morning sickness, I'm pregnant with twins. Double the pleasure, double the fun! Really, really bad morning sickness is a symptom of multiple pregnancy.

Hydration is key. If you're showing signs of dehydration (dry mouth, can't tear when you cry, higher temp) - you should see a doctor right away & possibly get IV fluids. Dehyrdation also causes morning sickness to worsen. But as long as you stay hydrated, you'll get through the worst part of pregnancy just fine.

If the nausea is really severe that you can't eat or drink much of anything than you need to see your doctor ASAP. You can't risk harming the baby due to malnutrition or dehydration. But if its not that bad then saltine crackers, ginger ale, peppermint tea can help. Peppermint is actually pretty good and cheap. Just get some regular old peppermint candy, and dissolve it in hot water. Use as much candy as you want for taste.

OHHHH mommy, I am so sorry for you. Plain chicken broth if you can handle it, I ate lots of tums, when I could stomach them. Do you feel as you'll starve to death before this is over? I also ate ramen noodles with a little butter no seasoning, rice was good, and popcorn. I also had mashed potatoes with a little butter and corn. Now I'm getting hungryLOL. I hope this helps and the nausea passes soon. Old wives tale says that when youre that sick the child will be born with a ton of hair. Good Luck

Ginger, you can buy ginger candy or buy ginger root and I peel it and freeeze, then grate some into a cup or bottle, to make ginger water, or ginger tea with a little honey. If you go to Dr. Andrew Weils web site he tells you how this is used even for motion sickness. It is the only thing that helped me. I used to carry a bottle of ginger water,( I had to sweeten with honey) everywhere I went. In California Whole Foods sales ginger water, but it's easy to make yourself. I still use this when my kids are sick and when I travel it just keeps you from feeling that feeling. Hope this will help you doesn't hurt you in any way while pregnant. Very Safe. You can also try chamomile tea.

Avoiding sugary drinks can help. Water and 7UP work wonders on calming the stomach.

(also, I'm sure this is just folklore, nausea is supposed to signal the birth of a girl. Lol. So congratulations!)

I suggest Arrowroots or any other digestive cookie as they are gentle on the tummy as well as having a bit more substance than plain crackers. Ginger ale is good but make sure it's flat as the carbonation will likely cause more problems.

Take care.

I hear ginger ale is good. Or, pure ginger in hot water is supposed to calm morning sickness.
