Pretty much, a celebrity is nothing more than someone who has managed to succeed in her/his career, entertainment. Because a person can sing or dance or act is ok, but nothing to be looked up to.
If you want to look up to somebody, try a teacher, a firefighter, a police officer, a volunteer at the local homeless shelter, a doctor, a nurse. Somebody that makes a true difference for society. Somebody who does the right thing because it is the right thing.

While there are still some celebrities who are good role models, many of today's are anything but. I feel sorry for their parents and have to wonder "Do they act this way at home?"

I think there are some celebrities that still have the right idea and you could feel right about having your kids look up to.. but for the most of them, no. They don't have morals anymore .. they are all Paris Hiltons, such trash and they make me sick. I wish more kids looked up to their parents, or teachers, or someone real...

I feel they never should have been looked up to in the first place. Just because you're famous and make a lot of money doesn't mean that you're a role model. The values we teach to our children in this country are screwed up.

I don't think celebrities should really be looked up to at all. They're not paid to be role models specifically, but to entertain us and (in the cases of challenging roles and writers/song writers, etc) to make us think.

Celebrities are jokes, look up to your parents, teachers, police officers, firemen, the real heros in our country.
