I did that same thing 4 years ago and just wrapped it with an ace bandage. but after 3 weeks a small whole appeared at the joint and puss started seeping out. Not just a yellow but greenish. It didn't hurt to bad that i couldn't get around. I went to bed and when I woke up my foot was stuck to the bed. NOT the sheet but the bed. the puss had seeped thru the sheets and attached to the fibers of the mattress. I didn't know what to do, so after a few min. I rolled my foot over fast and the bond broke. The pane was fast but not long lasting. I hopped in the shower and soaked my foot, I noticed that it was bleeding around the puss hole. I decided to squeeze it some and it has like I pooped a zit, Blood, yellow and green puss, and this nasty black goo that stunk came flying out. It looked like I had killed someone in the shower. I about fell down (passed out). My foot now throbbing, I had to do something. I got dressed and started to drive to the hospital. I went to the ER and waited there in the waiting room for 4 hours. I got taken back and they started taking my temp (102.5) they took it again. They looked at my foot and talked to one another quietly so i could not hear. They said there was a specialist coming to take a look. I laid back looking out the curtains and keep seeing a priest walk by looking in, I thought could this be the end for me? Then this lady Dr came in and looked at my toe, she asked how long had it been broke i told her just over 3 weeks. She said "You know, you only had about one more day to live?" She continued "Your toe got broke and has been rotting inside your foot, you have a massive infection. You are going to loose three of your toes but its going to save your life." So Ive lost my toes but alive. This story was made up and never happen. You have broken your toe and it takes 4-6 weeks and may fuse itself and not be able to be moved again. Just keep it straight so when it heals you don't have a little toe doing its own thing.....

You probably got it really good. When I stubbed my toe badly, it took 2-3 weeks to heal.
If it starts to get worse, go see a doctor. You might've bruised the bone or broken it.

It sounds like you broke the toe hun. Put a piece of cotton between it and the toe beside it and tape them together to form a splint. Ice bag (bag of frozen veggies if you don't have one) on it will help the swelling. Also keep your foot elevated as much as possible. This too shall pass.

You can help control the swelling and pain by putting cold on it.
If the swelling does not reduce with that, then you should go to a doctor, as prolonged swelling may be indicative of a circulatory problem. You do not say how old you are, so if you are older, then this is more of a concern.

Sounds like you may have fractured it. Any fracture will take 4 to 6 weeks to heal. Give it a couple more weeks - aspirin to reduce the swelling and help the pain.

I've never had my toe swell that long! Maybe some ice will help it.
