Who'll care about these guys by then?? half of them are too old to even run properly in this World Cup already anyways. If you insist on only watching the best players then soccer's probably started sucking for you since Pele retired. Get with the times, there won't be great great legends every World Cup but there'll be good ones, and who knows who might come up?? And I don't think any of the young players you mentioned "suck", you just haven't seen their best performances yet.

no.

true, some great stars will be gone. specifically zidane, nedved and totti from your list (figo, viera, mcbride, and beckham can get off the pitch for all i care).

but more importantly, take kaka and cassano off your second list. with these two and messi, teves, robben, van persie, saviola, hargreaves and toure, there definitely are rising players, and a 4 year hiatus between now and then.

first of all, you put figo on there twice but to the point. a lot can happen in 4 yrs. all those young players will gain a lot more experience by then which may make them really big super stars. also, its not sure that some of those players will not return, they may be older but they may still go. and cups dont suck just because some players leave because then that would mean that cups sucked after like pele stopped playing. its too soon to say nethin like that, and i have faith in those up-coming players.

Remember that there was time when all those stars were young. There will always be stars of the game. Pele, Maradonna, Beckenbauer, Muller, Jairzinho, Cruyff, Puskas, and Eusebio are all gone, but billions of people still watch the world cup. Certianly, I will miss the stars of today, but I will look forward to seeing the new talent in four years.

how would you know that these superstars are not going to play anymore? Of course the super old ones, but...are you sure? If it's true, then, I agree with you. But Kaka is the only person that's qualify for world-class. Include many German players.

I think the game will somehow survive without Ali Daei and Brian McBride.

Yes, they will be missed - no more or less that other great athletes from the past such as Pele. But other new stars will rise and that's what gives the sport new energy to keep it going.
