there are a lot of things i am proud to be an american, but this space once hold so much. so i will do my best to discribe it.

freedom, being a woman, i can do most anything i want to,
-being independant, work jobs which once were strickly job for men.
-owning my own home without a man buying it and having his name on my mortgage.
-own and drive my own car,
-able to go places without men being there to accompnay me.
-go into grocery or any other type of stores with out a man
-vote on any issue
-run for a governmental office, if i wanted to
-i can wear almost anything i want in public, except nudity( of course)
-choose what religion i want, and they way i worship God.
-i can go to school, any school i want to if i qualify with my grade point averages.
-as you can see, i can do things which most weman from different countries can't
-i was in the US Army, and ready to fight if they needed me to, but when i was in 1979 and 1980, they would not let me go on the battle field because i was a women, but now women are allowed to go on the battle field, so having my freedom is one reason of being an American and a women.

so i hope this gives you an ideal of what you want.

let me tell you a story which happened to me when i was a taxi driver.

i was at a taxi stand in downtown El Paso, TX in the early 80's, a man dress in clothing (don't know the proper name for their clothing) from the middle east got in my cab, i put down the newspaper and asked him where he was going, and the first thing out of his mouth was "you a women" i said yes, we had a real good conversation about both of our countries. he told me about the women in his country and how limited on what jobs they could have, secretary, maid, and stuff like that. then he told me they could not own property and cars unless their husband died. they could not drive a vehicle unless their husband died. and when i told him that women in Amercan can do almost anything including work for the government, he said we had "too much FREEDOM, and i said "OH YEA!!!!!" that day i really started to appreciate more of what we have in America.

excuse spelling, spell check did not work

my dislikes would be how hard it is to get financial help from the governmental agencies which are suppose to be there for you when you need them. and if you do get the help, you are one lucky person,

Yes, I am proud to be an American.

This country is not perfect, and I have a lot of problems with our government.

BUT we can speak our minds freely, criticize, and complain, and not have to worry about the secret police showing up to drag us away.

People who speak their minds freely to criticize the way things work here should keep in mind that it is the courageous men and women of our armed forces who defend their right to whine and complain, here in the safety and luxury of this country!

Yes, Americans are very rich; we are also the most generous people on Earth.

When any country asks us for financial aid or military support, because they are being bullied, or have suffered catastrophic natural disasters, we put our butts, our lives, and our resources on the line to support and defend them.

It seems to be quite fashionable among Europeans to bash America, and Americans.

Please try to recall, if it were not for the tremendous effort and sacrifice of all the loud, obnoxious, greedy, self-centered Americans during the Second World War, all of you would now be dead, or performing forced labor.

I am proud that my Daddy fought in WW11 in the Battle of the Bulge and Battle at Siegfried Line,,, he will be 85 on July 20th.,, he has only, since I started writing,, a few years ago, began answering questions about the war,, he never spoke of WW11 until I ask...
I am proud of the US military, the best in the world
we enjoy our liberty because many men and women fight in wars,, all gave some,, some gave their lives,,, I am not proud that half of my family are fiscal conservatives, born-again Christians who think everybody who believes different than they do,, are going to hell,,,
GOD BLESS AMERICA

I'm proud to be an American because it is my home, and it was my father's home. And it is the home of my children.

I'm blessed that I am able to wake up every morning and chart my own course, to worship (or not) who and how I please.

My America has never been perfect, but it strives to be. It has harmed people, but has learned.

It has liberated Europe not once, but twice, from despotic fanatics. It has liberated the Pacific Islands against Impirialism.

I laugh at those who call us impirialist. We are not conquerors. We are liberators.

May God shed His grace on her for another thousand years.

I'm not 100% American, I was born in Puerto Rico,
But I am so proud of America, because America did for me what Puerto Rico couldn't do. I am today what I am because of all my English teachers and American friends. I love you all.
And I cannot live behind the most and awesome responsible one for bringing me to this country, and that is Jesus God almighty. Because of a Christian Church here my family found hope.

Iam proud that my friends and family have died in this war, and in every war this country has seen to protect my way of life and the future of my children and their children. But iam ashamed to live in a country who's people take that for granted, and do nothing but piss and moan and point fingers.

We have been at such an incredible high, to achieve such a low, and have no place better to turn.

I am spending this July 4th completely embarrassed to be an American. We have become a nation of self-involved, self-important, uneducated, ignorant, thieving, murderous, Fascist, irresponsible, and hypocritical morons, and that's the way THE WORLD sees us! After 9-11-01, we had an EXCELLENT chance to show the world what we're made of, and we TOTALLY BLEW IT, thanks to our idiot "leadership"!! If we had people of vision in positions of leadership, we would be in much better shape, but just look who we have RUNNING THINGS in this country!! And we have no one to blame but ourselves!! We let our BEST CHANCE just fly on by, and now we're going to suffer for it!

We have nothing to be ashamed of, and everything to be proud of. And why respond to this question if you are not an American?
