It varies greatly depending on the site you want to purchase from. Some have options to pay by money order which you can mail in. Others allow you to pay from a chequeing account. There is a service called Pay Pal that you can use to buy things on the internet without having a credit card.

Instead of getting a credit card, consider getting a debit card that takes from your checking acct. Their is no interest on it and it doesn't cost anything and you should be able to use it just like a credit card.

Some places like Amazon.com will let you use your checking account. Just provide them with you account # and routing # from one of your checks. You should take a look for yourself.
