I don't think it was so much an event. I know he had a growth spurt at some point, and his game never quite caught up with his body. And I think the competition progressed. His game is basically "I hit the ball hard", which works if your opponents don't know how to return a serve like that. The problem is that his opponents now know how to return his serves. In short...he didn't get worse, everyone else got better.

When Andy Roddick dumped Brad Gilbert as coach (almost 2 yrs ago), his results have really gone down. Gilbert was a good at strategy. He was Agassi's coach for years, and Agassi had some of his best results with Gilbert, and Agassi became more of a complete player and #1 in the world.
Roddick goes out on the court with no plan and no strategy, he looks clueless and completely lost out there. Roddick is way too talented not to be doing better than he is. Roddick hasn't won a tournament in over a year, and with this loss at Wimbledon in the 3rd round, he could drop out of the top 10, he's going to lose a lot of points, because he was a finalist last year.
There is talk that Jimmy Connors might be coaching him. That maybe what he needs as Connors won't take any crap from Roddick. Connors WILL make him work. He needs something to turn his career around, maybe Connors can do the trick.

Well, in my opinion, Andy Roddick only has powerful serve and nothing else.
However, most of the tennis player improve their serve now. Therefore all the players are good at handling big server. So, no more advantage for Andy Roddick in the court.

He always has just been a big serve and forehand. His opponents learned how to successfully return his serve and hit more shots to his backhand. Roddick hasn't improved other areas of his game enough and so his wins depend on how well the other players returns his serve. He also does not have good movement and other players are able to make him move more than he is capable of.

His weapon is the serve and nothing else. He should realize he can't win the whole frickin match with only serves.... He is not consistent with his forehand and backhand stokes, and DOn't even talk about his volleys since he rarely comes in (I think He is a terrible volleyer)

i think roger ferderer has tapped into Roddicks mental toughness. after losing to him at practically every event he enters, i think he has lost some of his drive. hopefully he gets over this though. it's rather unfortunate. =(

i expected him to pick it up with the change from the clay season to the grass and hard court season, but he lost in 3rd round of wimbledon. its probally because his game is merely 1-dimensional, just a very hard hitter. people begin to pick up his game and adapt to it. his edge, that made him a great player early in his career is gone. dont count him out though, at the us open he will have the support of the fans, and hopefully another dimension which will involve finesse

He is great he just gets mad and messes up. He will get better and he will be the best, next to Fedderer and Nadal.
