No man, you gotta be plain weird to play drums. Take it from me dude. I've been playin' for few years myself... In the process I broke up with an old girlfriend, moved out of the house, finished school, got a new job, and moved in with a new g/f. See how eccentric?
First of all though, you gotta get your image straight and right - it's the most important thing on stage man. Then you can slowly ease in and START learning the drumming basics - but don't hurry... rock stars are always fashionably late.

eccentric? Well, I played for 3 years and Im not THAT eccentric. I have to say, unlike anyother instrument, you cant LEARN good sense of rhythm, I believe its in someone naturally which is obviosly vital to play loops and fills and stick with a track. If you have good rhythm and even more importantly coordination then go for it. Luckily what I lacked in ability for just about everything else, I made up for in music and art...its loads of fun so Id say go for it!

Drums rule.

I like hitting things hard.

Thats why i enjoy hurting people also.

Last time i played the drums i pushed them over and nearly hit the guitarist, and i was in a fantastic mood. It was awsome, i wish i hit him though...
