I just told her that I might be moving to Miami so I expected her to be mad or sad or something like that, but she started telling me that I am going to have a horrible life over there and that people are mean. She says that everyone is boring and that I wont make any friends! First of all... Is this true?? And how can I get her to stop? It's really making me mad because she wont stop saying stuff like: "I would never get used to it and neither will you" or "you're going to hate it over there and you're gonna want to come back".

I know that many of you have said that she just wants to make me stay or that she's sad. But she's not even that close to me. My best friend is being cooler about it than she is.

Of course it's not true. She is trying to change your mind by telling you wild stories.

Believe me I have delt with friends like this before and the only way to make them stop is to set them down and explain to her that what she's saying is not true and that she's hurting your feelings. The reason that she's acting the way she is , is because she's feeling abandoned and friendless and actually probably a little jealous cuz Miami is the freakin awesomest place ever and I would know cuz I've lived there. Just let your friend know that you wont forget about her after you move and that making you feel bad is not going to change anything except make you mad! hope I helped

Maybe she's just saying it because she doesn't want to see you go. Or, maybe she has some experience in living in Miami that you aren't aware of...
Why don't you ask her why she is saying these things instead of asking the general public? We don't know her or you well enough to make a call on whether these things are true or not. Maybe your personality is leading her to make these assumptions. Ask her.

First of all, SHE might think that she is right, but this is NOT true. People are people wherever they are, Miami, Cincinati, or NYC. Second of all, she might be doing this because she is jealous (?)Miami, heck, florida in general, is most peoples dream home. I really hope you work this out!

awww this is a really tuff situation. i know it must be really hard to cope wtih sumething like this as your best friend. and as you having to leave. But you can just tell her that she isnt going to make it any easier on ANYONE if he/she keeps making the comment that they are and tell them that when you do end up leaveing that you dont want to leave on a bad foot ya know? so just sit dome and talk to him/her and explain how you feel and listen to how they feeland try your hardest to work everything out with NO hard feelings or grudges!
hope i helped!

well, when i moved, my friend was being that way. I believe that she was unconsciencously tryin to distance herself from me so it wouldnt hurt so bad when i left. maybe you should say something to her about it, but be nice. she is just trying to convince herself that you cant replace her. Tell her that you would never try to replace her. she will snap out of it when she realizes you are not staying, and being derogotory isnt doing anything but hindering the last times of your close friendship. hope i helped :)

this is her way of expressing how much she is going to miss you she is putting negative thoughts in your head to discourage you from moving and being replaced to solve this sit her down and talk to her tell her no matter where you go there would always be a bond between you and her and she can't be replaced

Maybe she is just hateful, wanting to upset you. Don't let her do that to you. You will make plenty of friends, a lot more than she has , that's for sure.

Your friend really does not want you to leave. That is what that is all about. Of course what she is saying is ridiculous. She just doesn't want you to move.

I think she is just saying that stuff because she is sad and doesn't know how to handle her emotions... she just doesn't want you to go
