I artwork in a childcare centre, quite in many circumstances contained in the nursery the position we've the children from 6 weeks to fourteen months. maximum of our children are weaned from their pacifiers by utilizing a million 12 months or a minimum of 14 months. We inspire father and mother that by utilizing the time they are contained in the toddler room (minimum age 14/15 months) that they ought to not want their pacifiers. maximum father and mother want their new child weaned off by utilizing this degree besides, so that is not any longer an exceedingly good project. We do nonetheless have one or 2 children who've one for the period of relax time contained in the toddler room (some round 17/18 months yet those are the oldest children contained in the centre with a pacifier. :) in case you've not already, evaluate reducing the dummy all the way down to naps in person-friendly words so as that he would not get stunned once you decrease it out altogether.

It's best to start weaning her when she starts getting her teeth, since studies have shown that it may be harmful to them. Also, they are researching a link between pacifier use and ear infections. My daughter never really wanted a paci after she came home from the hospital even though I had planned to use one because of the possible protection against SIDS, which the AAP is currently investigating. It may possibly help to keep airways open or keep your baby from going into a really deep sleep, so if she were to stop breathing she would most likely wake up. So in my opinion the best time to stop would be around 1 year, when the risk of SIDS death is almost gone.

I weaned my baby off of his when he turned two. I don't believe pacifiers are bad for their teeth like some people claim - the newer ones are specially designed to deal with this issue, and they're just baby teeth, after all. Two was a good age for me. If you wait until they are older, like three, it can be harder because the habit is more ingrained.

We took our youngest son's away unless he was in his crib to sleep for naps and bedtime at 10 months. I think it was causing him not to nurse as much because he had his sucking needs satisfied. I was worried he wouldn't get enough to eat if he kept it. It was the PERFECT time to take it away except for bedtime. He didn't even notice. We were just mainly using it as drool controlat that point anyway. Around 18 months (when my kids generally wean from the breast), we cut the tips off the pacifier (just a little bit) and gradually cut more and more. They tend to give it up pretty easily.
Good luck!

I think it's up to you. my son is 19 months, and he has one he really only likes it when he is sleeping. I get dirty looks - I think when they can talk is good to take it away. Before that they might not understand why you took it away. It is sort of annoying to see kids that are trying to talk to you with a pacifier in their mouth. So,I guess 2 would be a good age to end it.

Let's agree that 28 y.o. seems to be too much...

Many babies will not want a pacifier any more when they are about 1 y.o.

I would say that around 2 to 3 y.o. maximum...

Try to get baby off the nunu by the age of 2 my daughter's nunu was her best freind, and shedid very well letting it go by the time she turned 2. Try stuffing it with cooton balls it won't be appealing to your child anymore.
