Ok, now I know that companies make money selling these ring tones but why hasn't a company come out with such a phone, they would sell more phones and more contracts which means more money. They could even charge a little more for the phone itself because of the 'special software'. Software they could perfect in no time at all. Am I wrong?

Your voicemail is actually stored on a seperate server, not on your phone. that is why you have to call your voicemail. Most people don't realize they are dialing another number to access their voicemail, it is transparent.

Some phones do let you record your own ringtones. The phones that let you download MP3 files have the function to let you set one of your MP3's as a ringtone.

actually, as good as your question is (and your plan to back it up), my ring tone is a recording of me playing a song i wrote. i change my ring tone all the time. i don't' want to spend too much money just to get a ring tone so if there's a song i want to have i go to my itunes and record it. i have Verizon which has a great voice memo thing that you can set as your ring tone....i don't think it was meant for that but it really is nice. sometimes i will record myself saying something important like what is going on today that i need to know and i will then set it as my alarm clark.

because of ways your voice is recorded, and as the message on the speaker is an digital reproduction of your voice, no longer your absolutely voice. also, your voice sounds diverse to you because you hear it otherwise because your vocal cords are vibrating and those vibrations commute by your head as well because the sound waves travelling by the air on your ears. once you hear the recording, it sounds diverse because you aren't any more conversing jointly.

You can make your own ringtones (with software on your computer) and upload them to your phone on phones that are capable of hooking up to your pc.
