It is also region free therefore you can watch any region dvd's on VLC media player. if any of these do not work try window media player classic.

is it saying it can not find the codec or is it dooing something else when you try to play them??
ash for what codec there isn't a set answer to that. because of what codec's are.
A Codec is simply a file that a media player uses to understand how the movie data is represented in the file.
here's an analgy:
you only speek english yet you got these people you want to talk with and none of them speek english. so what's the best thing to do? get a tanslator, so you go call up this compay that provides translattors and say you need one. and they are gong to ask what language do you need them to speek. becasue it's not going to do you any good to have a french translattor if the guy your trying to talk to only understands italan. now this is a simple problem to fix if you know the guy speeks italan, you ask for the correct interptuer and you comucate though them. but what happens if you can't figure out what language the guys talking in?
well then you can't find someone who can talk in bouth languages and thusly have no way of communicating.
comptuers and movie files (of any type) are the same way.
when your media player attemps to play the file it trys to determin what language (codec) the movie is using so it can decipher it.
but if it can't figure out what one the movie is using then you get the error.
so with you you giving us any more infomation about what streaming movie files your trying to play there is nothing we can to do help you find the correct codec.

You need to be more specific in your question, what codec is needed is determined by what program created the file. Most files use an extension to identify the file type such as .rm is a real media file etc......
