This may sound grosse, but I don't know whats going on. Ok, before my periods I have some sort of discharge....and after my periods I have an even worse discharge and my "private" hurts and itches so badly that I can't stand it. It seems like this has been going on forever. I went and saw my doctor about it and she gave my something for yeast infections and it didn't help at all. Do you know what it is or what to do about?

Thanks!

I went back to the doctor and she sent me to have a pap smear and they didn't find anything....they just keep saying its a yeast infection. But you can get rid of them...so, if it is, then why can't I get rid of mine?

Did you go back to the doctor and tell her that the medicine didn't help? It could be a number of different things, like: not wearing cotton panties, yeast infection (maybe that medicine just didn't work for you), an STD, among other things. Go back to the doctor and let her know that the medicine didn't work and ask for more tests.

you can get this for many reasons. What did the DR say it was? If you can eat yogurt, that will help to bring the PH level back to normal. Yeast infections is an out of balance PH level. Nothing serious, just frustrating. You can get it from taking anit-biotics. You can also get it from using different soaps or bathroom tissues. I cannot use Charmin bathroom tissue, it does the same to me/ itching red and the works. I can only use Dial soap when I shower. If I use other brands, forget it. If you are still in your teens it could come from hormonal inbalance. I had that alot when I was in my teens. If you are having discharge, do not use soap, it will irritate it more. Take a bath, sit in clear water, which you can use a bit of baking soda, or some vinegar in the water. After the bath, I use some vasoline in the area to help the irritation. Wear only cotton underwear, if you can like at night try not to wear any. To give the area air. Also if you are wearing very tight jeans or something like that , it can also irritate the area.

It sounds like your body may have a resistence to the yeast infection medication. When you said you "went to the doctor" what kind of doctor did you go to? Your family doctor or a gynecologist? You may need to have a second opinion. I suggest you seek one and be re-examined. Something else may be going on that you are not aware of.

There's a wide variety of anti-yeast medications out there, by over the counter and prescription. But before getting any of those, go get a second opinion.

Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon!
I hope I was some what helpful!

Changing your diet can help things like this as well. Yogurt is great. I eat it all the time. Make sure you are using a odor free cleanser down there (ie summers eve). use the medicine until it's gone and then consult with your doctor again. If they can't help you get a second opinion. But first go to the drug store and get some feminine wash. Good Luck!

you need to see another doctor. there are infections that are bacterial as well as fungal, and they require two different treatments. plus, there are several different treatments for yeast infections - if that's what it is, you may need to try a couple to find the one that works for you. but it does sound to me like your doctor isn't paying as much attention to you as she should be. if you can't afford another regular doctor you can go to planned parenthood or a women's clinic where they will see you based on your ability to pay. don't put this off - if it's a bacterial infection or a virus it could leave scar tissue that could possibly affect your ability to conceive later in life.

I definitely think this is not a question to ask here. You should consult your doctor for advice on this. Doctors can be wrong, so if the yeast infection medicine didn't work, you should try again.

People here aren't medical experts and probably won't be able to give you advice that you should rely on.

Consult your doctor again. It could possibly be bacterial vaginosis. This is a disruption in normal bacteria in the vagina. The doctor could prescribe an antibiotic.
hope this helps!
