I consider myself a citizen of the world. I have duel nationality, but my loyality is to humanity, not to a country. All of us should be world citizens. We are the same species, and race/nationality is irrelevent. The only way for humanity to progress is for us to let go of petty differences, greed and fear, embrace one another as brother and sister, and work together to salvage what we can from the cock ups we've made, try to fight for what is truely important - an equal standard of living for all, kindness and generosity, and happiness.

Such an excellent question and with OH, so many ironies inherent. At least for me.
If we don't get rid of all these illegal immigrants, I'm thinking the best thing to do, is to leave the US. Sell everything and cast my fates to the winds. Maybe become an illegal alien in some other country? Ironic isn't it?
I've frequently caught myself in criticle moments, trying somehow to relieve myself from the burdens of being subject to such a screwed up government as the US's frequently shows it self to be. Mostly this has been recently.
Don't get me wrong, I like freedom and tolerance but I also like law and order, don't like chaos or violence or criminality. That's what all this stuff seems to be culminating in ....and it's posterchild is Illegal Iimmigration. It's a deal breaker for me.
No point in staying in a country ...that isn't a country anymore cuz it doesn't protect it's borders. So maybe, some day soon, I will become a citizen of the world. Whatever that might mean. Maybe I will have a beer in Botswanna with the next Einstein or ?

There are many ways to look at being a citizen. Do you wish your tax dollars to be spent where you get no benefit form them? Another view of being a world citizen is knowing that no matter where you go our actions will come back to haunt you. Einstein I think, felt he was in the latter group.
In the latter group, I'm not only a US citizen I'm a world citizen. I even acknowledge that the 1st world's economy will crash if we don't change the economics of Renewable Energy. Expect the economy of 1850 by 2050. I've attempted to show away to change the economy of Renewable Energy both to the 2 governments that have to enable it & to this body. I even put it on Gores question. Haven't heard squat from him.

Yes we all are, most will disagree with this view but we are.
At first glance it seems that the question centers around which country we "belong" to. However it is about how our lives are tied to each other around the world.
It is a fact that our food sources are increasingly from other countries. The same way our energy sources, our clothing, our commercial good, our germs... For example Chile and China export fruit into North America, North America exports fruit and wood to other countries. Asia exports clothing to most of the industrialized world. China is importing most of the steel in this world at the moment and driving construction prices up around the world. Therefore what happens in those countries has a direct effect on prices and our lives. So whether you are "a proud America", Chinese, African, South American or European our lives are intertwined at an unconscious and invisible level.
We are citizens of a specific country but in our modern world it is almost impossible not to be a WORLD CITIZEN whether you like it or not. It is in the habits, objects and quality of our lives that "World Citizenship" is reflected. Next winter when you are shopping for gifts or are eating fresh foods that are out of season you may want to think about where that item or food came from and all the resources needed to deliver it to you, Mr/Ms World Citizen.

Yes I am a world citizen, and no that doesn't mean I have been everywhere in the world, nor have I been everywhere in the United States, and yet I am a citizen. I live in this country and this world and I want what is best for both. If the world is not safe, neither will I be.

I don't consider myself to be a World Citizen - just human. That's enough for me to relate to any other human being. What brings people together is nature and humanity. It doesn't matter where they live. The term Citizen implies some sort of borders, even if it's the borders of this world. I prefer the non-political connotation of simply human.

Yes, I think I'm.
Maybe it is to identify yourself not only with the ideals of one nation or country, but with the ideals of many countries or nations.
It could be also that people who have lived in different countries feel nowhere really at home and therefore they called themselves World Citizens.

It's best to be a citizen of one country since there is no world country at the moment. When your visa expires where you currently are and the country goes to deport you (which they will do) they need to have a country of origin to return you to other wise you get to stay at some real nice place like the Guantanimo bay Cuba bed and breakfast.
Have a nice day

No! I am an American Citizen. If you think that is so bad and that the U.S. is so corrupt then take a close look into the U.N. and the middle east and you will find that indeed we are the great nation of the world

Many will say they are world citizens but they want to desert the Iraqi citizens to a group that will surely kill all involved in Democracy. You can not be opposed to protecting & helping the weaker nations & declare yourself a world citizen.
I would like to consider myself a world citizen. I am in favor of sending food & aid to poorer countries, I am also in favor of protecting countries from thugs within their own countries that kill & maim for political control. We must help democracy or like into it over communist or dictators.
