Go for almost any Alfa - you won't beat it! Love the Brera but it might cost you more than 23k,

Hi there

It's really simple

If you want something cheap, reliable and small and fairly classy go for a Honda Jazz 1.4 Top Spec Sport model - it comes with air con, sporty loking spoliers and bumpers and fog lights etc.. prices start around £12k with options which probs cost around an additonal £2k but it leave you with plenty of change to run it or buy another car

OR

If you want something sporty, classy and can sit five in comfort as well as heritage - go for the VW Golf GTI with DSG Gearbox as it has the fancy automatic function but also manual paddle shift gear change or the R32 with it 4 Wheel drive system
Price start at 19,904 and add £2500 for the DSG Gearbox option which should bring it nicely under £23k

Now if you want something of pure elegance and is similar comparison to Alfa Romeo and BMW then go for Lexus IS in particular the 2.5litre V6 Petrol - it';s silky smooth , very refined and quiet and looks astonishingly beautiful and is gaurantee reliable. Although it is near the top end of the budget with base prices starting around £22,320

or a Volvo S40 with handling derived from the good handling ford focus. Exept with the Volvo it has class, style, saftey and also that floating dash board effect with aluminium trim and you can get a to petrol sporting model (2.5 T5 SPORT for around £22,547) - it's classy, understated , and not very flashy.

You could also get any car from the merc range i.e the A Class - B class and C Class Sport Coupe or even an mid range C Class - but like you stated earlier on you don't want anything too flashy and this rules out the mercs.

At the end of the day it's your choice and I hope you all the best in getting your perfect car!

How about a used Audi A8? Say two years old, might just squeeze in under £23k.

Dont buy a new one. Buy one 18 months old and spend the balance on a motorbike, jet ski, caravan, boat, holiday,hi-fi etc or more wisely, save or invest it.
