Destiny= 1) things that will happen in the future
2) the force that some people think controls the future, and which cannot be influenced by people

Fate= 1) What happens to a particular person or thing, especially something final or negative such as death or defeat.
2)a power that some people believe controls all events so that you cannot change or control the way things will happen

pretty much fate is looked upon as how you will end and other negative things, whereas destiny is not looked upon as harshly

Destiny is where you belong if everything works out perfect and fate is where you end up. I also think those are words that reveal if you are a pessamist of optimist... pessamist tend to view things in a negative light making things fate... optimist's prefer to be positive and view things as destiny.

I'm sure they're interchangeable -- and whenever we use them we decide how to use them.

Personally I would think of destiny as deterministic.
Whereas fatalism I could more easily construe as
non-deterministic.
