I SO DID!!!!!! and i was adamant to do god's work when i was a teenager! i tried to stop loving who i really loved and i .....tried.....
after a few years, i realized, why so ashamed for who are what you really are? $od God, just as long as I'm happy, She(I'm suffering the delusion that God is a SHE) should be happy for me too! there is no point living in total misery when we are not even sure about the existence of God!!!
I've laid my bed..... and i will lay in it even if its a bed of nails.... so be it....... i'm willing to take the punishment!
regards

I wouldn't call it a phase.
I grew up in a fundamentalist christian home. My step-father was a fundamentalist minister. I was taught from early childhood that homosexuality was a sin and the result of complete rejection of god and god's principals. I still believed this as I moved into my teen years and discovered that I was attracted to other males. I was till actively involved in my church, read my bible daily, and couldn't understand gay feelings if it is the result of complete rejection of god. That was my first realization that the bible just didn't have a firm grasp of what homosexuality is about.
By the time I was 21, I realized that the bible didn't have a realistic grasp of most things and finally rejected it as the "complete word of god."
I still believe in god. I still worship. There has only been a short time in my life when I rejected the entire idea of god... and that was only my misunderstanding of the REAL nature of God.
My current belief is that there is no way that ancient, barbaric people could have had ALL the answers about who and what God is. The same people had no idea what caused flood, famine, pestilence, earthquakes, and disease. How on earth could they have a concept of something as vast as God? They certainly wouldn't have the "final word" on who and what God is.
It was not a phase... it was just what others taught me to think. When I learned to think for myself, I learned better.

Unfortunately, due to some bigoted and discriminatory 'christians' out there, some gay/lesbian people are made to feel that it's bad to be gay. But if that's how God made you, celebrate it!
I also take issue with the hypocrites who say "love the sinner, hate the sin" when their actions show they hate both. WWJD?

I haven't, but I broke up with a guy who was gay as a goose, but planned to switch later on to please his version of God, who only wanted straight folks. I felt bad for him, but when I kiss a guy, I can't enjoy it if he's thinking we're damned for it.
Years later, I ran into him, and he was in school, and not in any theatrical productions (his first love). I saw him last month, and he was out of school, back on stage, and in a hurry to meet up with "this one guy"

Yes it lasted way to long and I was miserable the whole time. Now that I accept that I am how God made me I am finally happy.
