I am a small town boy in Kentucky, born & raised here in the state. I've spent a total of less than 11 mos. in urban areas. I've never lived on a farm, but have otherwise lived within five minutes of farmland. In my town, the biggest hangout is Wal-Mart, followed by Kroger and McDonald's.

I will receive my Bachelor's degree in two years and would love to attend law school. I have the grades to be accepted, as well as the analytical and arguing skills and basic understanding of the law and Constitution to get a basic head start. (I know law school is much deeper than that and with more breadth...)

My top picks of places to move to: Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Birmingham, Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland, OR

Places I would like to avoid at all costs: Louisville, Detroit, New York, North Jersey, LA, any city in California, DC, Baltimore, Philly

Consider people, hospitality, food, culture, climate, beauty

drew_2_0_2: Not to downgrade your state, but I like Florida for the beaches. I don't think I'd want to live there, either. OK, maybe Tallahassee wouldn't be so bad.

After reading and considering ALL your criterion (as you have listed them in order of importance and preference - at this time). . . I would advise you to continue with your studies (BA Degree) and see where you are accepted for law school . . .
Your choices and preferences may change, with the passage of time and circumstance . . .
It's good to have a 'general' idea of places you'd like to be - but so many things can change your mind, so very quickly - such as what happened in New Orleans recently. . . get my drift?
Congrats on your lofty goals - keep at it, kiddoe - and best wishes for your future successes!!!

I noticed you have Nashville on the list. I'm just 35 minutes south east of Nashville, in Murfreesboro. It's pretty nice here. We're one of the fastest growing cities in the country (population). It's kind of like a small town but since we're growing so fast, we're getting all the big name stores and restaurants that Nashville, Brentwood, and Franklin have had for a long time. They're even talking about putting in a public bus system in the next few years. That will make it easier on a lot of us. I think Nashville's streets are too confusing. All the numbered avenues cross each other at some point or another, and every one of them meet up with or cross the major streets like Broadway, Church, Main, Demonbreum, etc. And most of them are one way, switching the opposite way when you get to the next one, so if you get turned around, it's crazy trying to get back on track. I like Murfreesboro a lot better.

I don't know..............
Just come to North Carolina. Your single I'll feed ya!
I would look online and see which states are booming right now and go from there. OR find out were all the pretty women are!!!!
Then move there.
Out of your list I would pick Austin or Atlanta. Other then that I don't know what too tell ya.
Good Luck

I agree with the Denver guy, I used to live in Thornton CO, and I was close to Denver, and snow covered mountains to ski etc, that and it's a LOT cheaper than here in San Diego ;) I can still Ski, I just gotta drive to Big Bear, but I have the ocean for water skiing time:)

you dont say if you are single or not but if you are then Denver by all means, its like 49 to 1 ratio female to men and there is alot to do year round, people are great and jobs plentiful in all areas, its also close to allparts of the country, large airport easily to get around in, has all four seasons, very affordable, just stay away from Aurora unless you are gay, best city Ive been in and Ive been in plenty of them as a federal officer, also met my wife of 26 years there good luck

If I had the opportunity 30 years ago, I would go south. The warm weather is for me. The winters here in Kentucky are too cold for me. I think any midsized city would have everything you need. Always remember, it's you that creates your happiness. If you are an unhappy person, then nothing will please you. Congratulations on continuing your education - go for it - you're young and have the whole world ahead of you.

Atlanta has a wonder Medical school, but if your from a small town it will be a culture shock. There are least 4 million people just in Atlanta alone.
