Snakes eat vermin, flies help to break down dead things but what good do mosquitos do?

In addition to feeding a wide variety of flying predators, such as bats, birds and dragonflies, the aquatic mosquito larvae also form an important food source for a large number of critters that live in ponds and pools. Dragonfly larvae, predacious diving beetles, even predatory flatworms, carnivorous plants like bladderwort, and tiny predatory copepods use them as a primary food resource. Fish, aquatic birds like ducks, and other swimmers eat quite a few as well. Mosquito larvae have even been found in the stomachs of alligators (although admittedly, they probably weren't deliberately swallowed).

But ultimately, the mosquito's purpose in life is to make more mosquitoes. Which they are able to do quite successfully.

they feed bats. not to mention the fact the point of any species is just to survive and reproduce. what do humans do? we basically just sit around and try to live our lives and reproduce as much as possible. just because we make up things like yahoo doesn't mean we're doing anything good for the world, and you're assuming that animals have a purpose in the world. What's the point of those vermin? and if the vermin have no purpose, then what's the point of snakes? you could make a case for everything having a huge point in life, or no point at all, so the niche of mosquitos is just live and reproduce, like all other things.

Well, since must of us know that mosquitoes are really disease carriers, we tent to leave out the fact that only the female requires a meal of blood. On the other hand, the male survives by sucking nectar of flowers and the juices of fruits.

So, if we want to think positive about this insect, then focus on the male, which can by accident carry some pollen when flying from flower to flower to get its meal –yeap, just like the bees. In addition, the mosquito hawks (mosquito eaters –cannibal behavior), are helpful by feeding on regular mosquito larvae’s. All of us have seen the last-mentioned at least a few times; they are referred as giant mosquitoes.

I'd like to add to something previously mentioned, that mosquitos are actually the world's greatest pollenator and without them many species of plants would go extinct. Another interesting tidbit is that the Alchemist left a handy link to the crane fly definition on Wikipedia, but erroneously said crane flies eat mosquitos, which they don't.

Mosquitos are food for much needed birds. And bats eat them too. Everything has a purpose, even cockroaches. Although I would swear that one of their purposes is to torture me. About the only thing on the planet that can make me hurt myself...in my breakneck effort to get away from them! lol
