Cool question. But you got apples and oranges here. Dale Sr. was a checkers or wreckers kind of guy. He just had the chops to win more than get towed. Dale Jr. is a thinking mans driver. Where Sr. would say, "I'm gonna put my car here and ain't nobody gonna say different!" Jr. sees where to put the car and then works out the how and when to get it there without ending his day early. Jr. is also driving in an era that is harder to prove yourself. Today there are 25 to 30 drivers who can win any given race. Ten to fifteen years ago you had half that many. The teams are getting more and more equal every day.

But...there is nothing more frightening than looking in your rear view mirror and seeing the black number 3, I'm sure.

Dale Jr. may be trying to walk in his daddy's foot steps but, he will never be able to fill those shoes. If you take Dale Sr. out of the picture....Do you think anyone would really know his name? Only real die hard fans would. Now as he wins more and more races. Then he will become a household name too. But, At what price? Because of Daddy or Did he earn it? Everyone has heard of Dale Earnhardt Sr. Even people that are not racing fans. Not many know that Dale Sr. got his love for racing watching Ralph Earnhardt (his dad) race. Dale Sr. financed his own effort, oftentimes having to borrow money to buy parts and pieces to run on the weekends, hoping to win enough to pay back the bank on Monday. Dale Sr. made his name. His son Dale Jr. just walked into it with the best of everything already there. I still love Dale Jr. too! He is a great driver. After all he was taught by the best....

Now this is a question which there is no debate. Dale Sr won 7 championships along with many many races. He was the intimidator. Dale Jr is just a shadow of what his father was. I love Dale Jr hes an awesome driver but he will NEVER EVER be his daddy

this requires a little thought, but if you will think about this you will see what I am talking about. The Dale Sr. that everyone will compare him to will be the one with seven championships and 84 victories, not the one only five years into the sport. I think that Dale Jr. is probably as good as Dale Sr. was at that age and experience level. Jr. has more competition though. In Sr's day, only about five or six cars had the potenial to win where now about 30 or so cars could win on any given day.....so I personally think that Jr. is about as good as his father was at that age, and I am a strong Sr. fan.

In my opinion, that isn't even a question as to who was better. Dale Sr. may be the best NASCAR driver ever. Dale Jr., on the other hand, hasn't even come close to being as good as his father.

ouch, thats a really really tough question, depends though, Dale Sr was better in the case of driving, his hard *** driving style and won 7 championships, but i think jr is better with like the public and newscasters, he's willing to sign autographs and have television appearances where as Dale Sr, kind of shrugged that off. but over all i cant really say who is better, R.I.P Dale Sr.
They are both awesome and are both equal to me, Dale Sr sure raised a good son

now that i have picked myself up off the floor after a near death incident from laughing so hard..
can this be considered a valid question?? i'm not sure, and really must lean towards no as the answer.
uhmm obviously, w/o a doubt, hands down it was Big E. Don't have an issue with Dale Jr. but he's got nothing on his daddy, and people really really need to let him be his own person and driver.
