Can petroleum jelly "go bad"?

I found a jar in my bathroom cabinet and I am sure it is at least 8 years old. Should I keep it or throw it out?

Not unless someone (who stuck their finger in the jar) passed on a germ of some kind.

If the jelly has a strange odor or appearance, then I would throw it out.

Since it has so many uses, I am sure you can utilize it.

I just would NOT use it when a sterile environment is needed (like on a scratch).

no, it doesn't go bad. it's inert
