What oppression are you talking about GIRL 360? What oppression have you ever gone through? Happy 4th and God Bless America at least until it gets to where we aren't truly free anymore. We're almost there now, but not quite because the government hasn't found a way to convince us that taking all of our freedoms away is for our own good yet. Give the government an inch and they'll take a mile, but I still wouldn't say that we are oppressed by any stretch of the imagination.

I'd like to add that I liked all of the answers that I got except for Girl 360's OPPRESSION!?!? WHATEVER!

Anyway, the only reason why I asked if anyone was offended was because people get offended so easily these days about every little thing. I was afraid that being proud of being an American would surely piss somebody out there off. I'm glad all of my answers were positive though, except for one.

Oh, and about the hippy thing, I just hate the hippy mentality. I hate when people want to put greater emphasis on the environment than national defense or something like that. To me, the environment should be a priority, but it shouldn't take presidence over our own safety or defense. The whole hippy way of thinking seems spineless or cowardly. Also, this era's ultra-sensitive menatilty and disposition makes this period in American history seem like it should be called "The Cry Baby Period." Everyone seems to have their feelings stuck out on their shoulders about every little thing.

Anyone offended by the thought of wishing our country a happy birthday should choose a new country to call home. But, it is the freedom that our forefather fought and died for that allows them to feel that way. So I guess it is their right.

RE:Girl360's Oppression........what oppression?? We live in America.......we may not like it at times....but we have the freedom to think that.............we have the freedom to spew just as you did..........freedom to have feelings.and make choices....not to have them made for us.

No, should anyone be?
I'm English and I don't celebrate it but I think you'll find there have been enough generations since to get over it.
Have a good one.
