I am biased in this question because I used to work for Borders as a manager. I STRONGLY prefer Barnes and Noble. Working at Borders almost killed my love for books. I had a Boss B*tch from the seventh level of Hell who thought she was the greatest but who couldn't even look up a book on their craptacular inventory system or work a cash register. Yes, Borders seems to have a bigger selection, but in recent years they've cut back on staffing so much that finding a book is tantamount to finding a needle in a haystack. Don't buy your CDs or DVDs at Borders because they are consistently 2-3 bucks higher than Best Buy or other retailers. And Borders knows this! They are banking on the consumer wanting the convenience of buying everything at one place.

Both are about the same. I would pick Barnes & Noble though for book choice and Borders for more cd choices.

Barnes and Noble. They always have books for like 30% off, then I get an extra 10% off with my members card.

Barnes & Nobels!!! because i went to both today, and no one working at Borders was no one there to help. They had a monsterous line at the help counter and finally one person came to help. Their computers said they had the book, but in reality they did not. I went to B&N and they had my book and I was in and out in under 5 min

BORDERS, they have everything you could want, some even have like a coffe shop/cafe thing. i prefer borders because the store is always quiet and you can always find a good book and read part of it in their lounge chairs. The employees are always nice and they are always willing to reccomend books, music, movies, ect. hope that helps. and they will send you coupons via email if you sign up at their website.

We like Barnes & Nobel. Mostly because they are close, but they are also very helpful and have so many more books and catagories to choose from.
