A really dehydrated person is usually given an IV to replace electolytes fast. Otherwise I would mix one or two bananas, an apple, and a handful of raisins in water and ice in a mixer (preferably a Vita Mix mixer). Add water so cosistency is not watery but not thick either. More lean to watery than thick. If it were me I would also add a whole cut carrot to the mix. Then make sure you drink tons of water during the day and next. Eat regular meals.

Pedialyte or a similar product is best for dehydration.....
http://www.pedialyte.com/
If not available something like Powerade or Gatorade is okay. Try to avoid fizzy drinks unless there is nothing else.
Drinking fruit juice may give you a stomach ache if you drink too much, try watering it down with tap water.
You should avoid anything that is a Diuretic like alcohol, tea or coffee since that will make you more dehydrated.

Once you've gotten to the point of dehydration an IV is the best way. The key to avoiding dehydration is drinking during your activity

If you're on the verge of sickness or some kinda of body trauma from dehydration... You can be hospitilized overnight and they will hook an I.V. up to you and make you dirnk and eat things that rehydrate you...
But, as far as reasonable dehydration, always keep refueling your body with clear-like liquids without caffiene, and too much sugar... this is expecially important to do during sweaty and heavy activity.

Good old water is the best on a daily basis. But when illness, extreme exertion are the problem Gatorade, propel are two good ones to help put the electrolytes back in balance. Of course for a young child pediolyte water, or Popsicles really go better. Hoping you a good 4Th of July.

Actually there are many ways you become dehydrated and there are many ways to hydrate yourself as well....Water of course being the number one source by both drinking and bathing...believe it or not your body will absorb water if you bath in it...then of course consumption of juicy fruits or vegetables of any kind....dehydration is a dangerous thing....take care and beware....be good to your body

Water is always best as sports drinks contain sugar and sometimes high fructose corn syrup. If you are also hot, you should drink room temp. water bc if you drink really cold water your body heats up to cool it down thus making you hotter. Juice is another good alternaticve if you are bored with water but get 100% juice like apple & eve or juicy juice brands.

Drink water. Slowly. then mix water 50/50 with gatorade. Drink slowly and rest until re-hydration.
IV's are not safe. You would need monitoring by a doctor, be in good health, have no other physical problem.

during the day, drink small amounts of water, keep a bottle of water around you and take sips whenever you think you need one. if your mouth is already dry, you are starting to dehydrate, just take sips, other wise you could be put in the hospital and have IVs put in to rehydrate you.
