Below is a CBC story it sounds like the US is backing down to me maybe the threat is more real than we know? What do you think?
North Korea has threatened the United States with nuclear war if any pre-emptive military strikes are launched against the isolated communist country.
The communist party newspaper in Pyongyang said on Monday that Washington had been increasing military pressure against North Korea but the country was ready to defend itself.
The paper said the North Korean people and the military "are now in full preparedness to answer a pre-emptive attack with a relentless annihilating strike and nuclear war with a mighty nuclear deterrent."The White House spokesman, Tony Snow, described the threat as "deeply hypothetical."
In recent weeks, the United States has expressed concern that North Korea was preparing to test a long-range ballistic missile that could reach American territory.State media in North Korea often threaten powerful retaliation against attacking forces.

Kim Jong-Il must be seen greater of a Saturday Morning caricature villain than a threat to international peace. North Korea has threatened war ever via fact the Korean war each and every time it needs something from united statesa.. in case you desire an occasion, North Korea has asked for $one hundred Trillion for war damages incurred via the Korean war. this is greater beneficial than the whole international's GDP.

These people are stupid, North Korea is a huge threat, and they should be treated like one. I have seen documentaries where they take cameras in the country and show the place for what it is. A ruthless communist state that brainwashes their citizens into thinking that their leader was fathered by God and that every American is an evil being that wants to take over the world.

LOL.......We have been in Korea since 1950. Our troops have been on the border all that time (that is 56 years folks.....count 'em 56). This is just another one of North Korea's BS to garner some sympathy from the unknowing. The North Korean leader made absolute fools out of the Clinton Administration with his lies and deceits. This issue is well in hand, all the other stuff you hear is just crap to sell air time, papers, and give politician something to harp about. North Korea isn't new. Its just new to some of you.

North Korea already launched its missile, but it wasn't long-range.

NK has been threatening nukes for some time. Their leader knows how to push the US's buttons, so to speak.

Korea is one of the most backward places on earth. They rattle their saber, occasionally. You could bomb them back into the stone age with a cherry bomb. They are archtypical left wingers.
