We as a species learn from our mistakes.

This is how we learn from our mistakes, avoiding the negatives.

I wouldn't say that the species as a whole is negative, however, many individuals within the whole are most definitely negative.

The tendency to be negative occurs because as children we are "programmed" to see the world in virtually the same way that the people who are closest to us (our family) see it. And if our family in general is negative, then we, too, will become this way. Therefore, our tendency to be negative is something we LEARN and unless we make the effort as we get older to change our outlook and make it more positive we get stuck interpreting ALL our experiences in the same old negative way.

Basically, those who see that they have a choice about the way they look out at life go about changing it for the better. (Quote: "The clearest sign of wisdom is continued cheerfulness." ~~Michel de Montaigne)

Because life sucks. Life consists of a few brief moments of pain, sandwiched between an eternity of nothingness beforehand and afterwards. The small amounts of pleasure we manage to achieve only emphasize the fact that existence is suffering, and that our eventual fate is an endless bleak eternal void.

Notice, happiness which is positive in its rear occurrences does not allows you to think. Negative things , in contrary, makes you think, but it does not do any good, unless you truly learn to understand that thinking. and negativity relate to each other. It is nothing wrong with thinking, it might be appropriate to consider other ways of thinking.

William, I think it is easier to be negative, than to make an effort to maintain a positive attitude. We´ve been burned too often. Sunny side up, be well, stay well!
