I don't think that Beckham should be replaced by Lennon. Lennon is a great player with speed and imagination. However he lacks maturity, experience and control. He's a good play maker but Beckham can do all this and more. His free kicks and corner are pure class. They are clinical and (with rare exceptions) always seem to find their targets-either his fellow players or the back of the net. He also has the confidence to not only be a captain and fantastic player, but also to do this while having every aspect of his life plastered all over the newspapers. Maybe they could work together in a modified diamond. That would awesome!!

Aronn Lennon is a great talent but definately not the finished article. I am a firm believer that lennon should be playing right wing for england by euro 2008 but he should be brought in gradually and and that we do not expect too much from him.
Beckham still has a lot to offer as he was never the most pacey or powerful of players and you never lose what you don't have.
That said. Steve McLaren does probably not have the spine to drop Beckham.

Yes and no
Yes = In the long run Lennon should be prepared in a way as to make sure that he is capable of replacing everything that David Beckham has brought to the England team. Lennon should be given his fair share of international football to aid his development.
No = At this moment in time time Aaron Lennon does not have the experiance to take over as a straight swap for Beckham. Beckham is one of the senior players in the squad that the up & coming young stars look upto to provide experiance. Beckham has proved time & time again that he is prepared to step up to the table when it gets tough and be counted.
In the not too distant future I expect Aaron Lennon to take over David Beckham as Englands first choice right sided midfielder.
Steve Mclaren should bring youngsters through as early as possible to provide them with vital big game experiance so that they can go on and become stars of the future.

I Dont think so Lennon is playing good but the need some experience man like Beckham... If they want to select a Young Squard means they could have used Theo Walcott in the world Cup insted of Owen but they they used Crouch bcoz he had some experience in EPL.... It will be better that Lennon should be used after the retairment of the David Beckham.... Dont Forget that MASTER FREEKICK.......

YES. He played better in the few minutes that he came on as a sub than Beckham did in the whole tournament. Y
Yes, Beckham scored the goal but if he wasn't captain and Sven wasn't the manager, do you think he would have been first pick?
But his presence sums up the whole England team. Old, tired, unfit, injured name-brand favourites were chosen over those that had actually 'performed' this year and deserved to be there i.e. Wright-Philips and Defoe.

no not yet. lennon isnt quite ready yet. lennon should come on for beck though as he provided that extra spark late in the game.
another option is that becks moves into a central midfeild position which would still provide selection delemors as gerrard or lampard would have 2 make way or play out of position. couldnt england produce a left winger just like lennon so j cole doesnt get 2 play????

Yes, if Steve McLaren thinks Lennon can do a better job than Beckham. It is all about teams not individuals.

No. Definitely not! Here's why:
David Beckham is Britain's finest striker of a football not because of God-given talent but because he practises with a relentless application that the vast majority of less gifted players wouldn't contemplate" — Sir Alex Ferguson (1999)

He doesn't necessarily need to be dropped... But his performances in Germany were not the best we've seen out of him. I think he shold move to a more central role like he plays in Spain (we already know that Gerrard and Lampard don't play well together) and then play Lennon on the right...
