It's hard to answer without knowing more about your background. Do you have a job that has a lot of responsibility? If so, that would be a good reason as being in a submissive role liberates you from a large amount of responsibility.
Yes, it is possible that some past trauma is affecting your mental state. Vanilla people seem to look for reasons like that as they are also looking for a rationale. However, let me ask you this: has the pleasure off service diminished? Do you serve out of a sense of guilt, or do you freely accept this role? If you are enjoying your role and nothing is causing that enjoyment to be eroded, then it really doesn't matter why.
Given that you seem to have opportunities to ask on this interest of yours, you must be in heaven. Therefore, there's no need to wreck the thing by analysing this too much.
