Depends on what your union contract says. No contract then the companies personnel policies spell it out. Employers can make any policy they want as long as it doesn't conflict with state law. This is a common occurrence in Oregon. A mill will shut down for 2 weeks during the summer and that's when everybody takes vacation. Yes, if that is their policy. If you are not sure if its their policy review your employee handbook or as HR to provide you with a copy. If it's not company policy, but your supervisors preference something should be done about it. You may also want to simply ask HR if that's the companies policy.

no they cant, they can not alow you to use vacation time at the dates you wish but thats it. this is time you have earned and you are entitles to it. call your local labor center to make sure before you cause waves
