http://PCLinuxOS.com is the one that finds ALL the hardware, and is a derivative of Mandriva, built, and mentored by TexStar, a former coder for Mandriva. All my 20 kids love this.
Then, I like http://Kubuntu.org for the FULL featured Synaptic suite! Debian based and has 5,000 apps on the CDrom!
Suse 10 is cool, from the DVD, for just about everyone; and, for my pocket and travels, DSL 3.0 and GPartED, and Knoppix Lite, all at http://livecdlist.com
For a FAST and LIVELY demo, nothing beats Frenzy! (BSD with XFCE desktop Windows Manager!).
Fast Network Security tool chest distro? P.H.L.A.K. (Professional Hacker's Linux Attack Kit) but, the author is taking a sabatical, so no new developments...
SlackLive and STUX are too cool, as is FreeSBIE (quick booting, FULL desktop, BSD )!
And, the MONDO PACK, 12 Live Distros on one CDrom, called Multi-boot.

I was a Windows user for years, and I decided to try Mac OS X about a year ago. In that time, I've shifted over to it almost exclusively. I'm holding onto my Windows PC because there is ONE game I like to play on it. For everything else, I use the Mac.

I'm on SuSE 10.1 and liking it.
Off the PC, VxWorks is pretty nice.
BTW, Mandrakes new name is Mandriva (why'd they change it?). I tried it and liked it, but prefer SuSE (less dirsuptive when you have been using SuSE for years).
