There are three types of fouls:
1) Manageable (OK)
2) Bad
3) Really Bad!

If the ref decides that you gave a manageable tackle, that was nasty but not bad enough, he just gives a freekick.
If he feels that the tackle was worse but not bad enough to send the player off, he gives a yellow card.
If the foul was really nasty, a red card comes out coz the player is a hazard to others on field. (Getting 2 yellows in a match=red; so on getting your 2nd yellow, GET OUT!)

Still not clear, email me and I'll help you out!

I guess T921 like KFC so he talks of fowls, not FOULS!!!

If you are talking about a free kick on goal then it could have been because a player was fouled inside the 18 yard line.

If you are talking about a free indirect kick ( a kick not directly to the goal) then it might have been because someone was fouled somewhere out on the feild.

* Refs dont always give yellow cards for fowls

Only if the fowl is serious you get a yellow card. A minor fowl you get a free kick, a little serious, a yellow card and very serious or dangerous a red card (off the field).

yellow card is given only if the opponent is too harsh on the player,

or rather the player tries to stop the opponent rather than the ball

free kicks are given without yellow cards if the opponent hits unintentionally

or should i say he rather goes for the ball than the opponent, which is not a mistake of the player
hene no reason to give a yellow card

the team that committed the foul doesn't get the free kick but the opposite team

because not all fouls are yellow cards or red cards...there is least amount of punishment and most amount of punishment...the ref decides what each team gets...so basically it really depends on the ref...

it depends how hard the foul is.If you kill someone then you'll get a yellow or red.But if its not serious amd its just a fould then no yellow is given.
