Very strongly against Bush's wishes. Also - Alaska has been the hit spot speculated to be the target because it is the "closest" to Korea. What is your opinion?

The missile wasn't 'it'.
The missile was puny.
Query whether they have an 'it' or are just trying to bluster to their own populace and people who will believe what they want to believe.

As to why today, I think they wanted to distract from the shuttle and from Iran. Iran is playing brinksmanship again, refusing to give an answer by the deadline.

They are just playing the game. This is a very poor country and we will not deal with them and rightfully so. If the don't keep their word we shouldn't deal with them. But boy do we need some diplomacy here. They fired 2 much smaller non nuclear missiles to show us they can fire missile's. Does their nuclear missile work??? Don't know but instead of playing cowboy GWB better pay attention and figure out an answer to this. He's the President. It's his job to solve international problems. North Korea has said that they are ready if WE attack them. They have not said they will attack us first. GWB better get this one right , Iraq had no ability to fight back. These people do. Happy 4th to all.

According to news sources They did not lauch the long range taepodong-2 missile everyone was worried they would launch. They only launched a short range one. Please don't try to alarm people.
[Update] A second missile has been launched according to the BBC. Type unknown.

they did it because its the 4tth of july and the space shuttle went up today. they are threatening us but we have the power so they better watch out! lets just hope it doesn,t lead to nuclear war or we all will be toast!
