Although I am bigger, I can really move and I love to dance. I have performed on stage several times.

I am already enrolled in an Advanced Hip-hop class. I think that if I can learn some jazz techniques that I can get a solo for the year end recital.

absolutely not! we are all different so far as real interests in our lives are concerned. you may have been "born to dance". you would be making a big mistake not following your "bliss" because of societal "rules". giving up what you truly enjoy is always an error. what others may think of you because of your "size" only reflects poorly on them, and their superficiality. in my experience dance is very important for one's health, soul and general well-being. go for it!

Size never matters here! If you got it, flaunt it - and it sounds like you can really dance. And wanna know a secret? The only dance that really stresses unhealthy thinnes is ballet. All my friends that tap and do jazz or interpretive are average, thick or plus. But it doesn't matter because they can move and they get all the great solos.
Don't worry about it! Go for the tap and jazz, you will rock!

Honestly sweetie, what difference does it make what size you are if you are enjoying your life and making yourself feel good? You go girl. Tap dance yourself into a tizzy, it's fun and very good for you. I used to be a professional dancer and NOW am a larger girl who still dances. One can't be 100 lbs all of ones life....You silly thing. Enjoy. We worry too much about how others see us, if they see us happy and content they want to be that way too. Dance on Baby!!! Nana

No! You're not wanting too much!!!!
Go on Girl and dance your heart out, we were at a rectial-concert of my granddaughters school of Dance, they have approximately 150 students, in all shapes and sizes. The owner
of the school says, if you can move and can do all the moves
and jumps, you should do it. Its good exercise and if you enjoy it
you'll be good at it.
Good Luck!!!!!

No one says that any dance is for the skinny...you go girl...some of the best dancers I have seen have been larger women. Try Ballroom if you really want a challenge! Good luck

You can do it.
Take some classes.
Don't let anyone tell you you are too big.
I've danced for years, as well as cheerleading too.
I've met many plus size girls over the years who can groove too. Doing the splits and everything. Keep it up girl!!!!!!

i respect ballet, jazz, tap, present day, lyrical, and pointe, yet ballet is my all-time in demand. that is the middle to all dance, and that is soooooo noticeably!!!! in case you want to do a jazz, you almost could do ballet. then you definately could opt for - do you want to make a great number of noise with your feet, get "down" in some hip-hop, or be flowy and flow type of peculiar??? that is somewhat as a lot as what you want and opt to do. you may want to verify with your instructor earlier instructions commence as to what she/he thinks you may want to artwork on or are strong at then flow with that. that is all as a lot as you, somewhat. strong success and characteristic interesting!!!

I say go plus sized girl. If you done what you say you have done and loved to dance, what in the heck is stopping you. You may live to regret it someday!

No, size does not matter. I know some really hot salsa dancers who are larger. I think you should do what makes you feel good.
