What makes a man sick enough to want to violate an innocent child? So many children around the world suffer in the sex trade.

I personally believe that much of the problem stems from our society's unnatural need to suppress sexuality and natural bodily functions and put connotations around it as being something wrong, sinful and dirty which needs to be hidden.

I believe that if, from the earliest of ages were taught to embrace sexuality and the body in a healthy, factual way, between consenting persons of appropriate maturity, the psychological trauma around sex would be far less prevalent and there would be a drastic reduction in the number of sex crimes around the world.

In life we are being tested. Temptations and trials are part of the test. Most likely either the person or pedophile as labelled was exposed to this type of behavior or had an innate tendency to be attracted to younger children. However, because of a choice to act on this behavior, the person is said to have violated another hence becoming classified as a pedophile. If you look at society and the allure that mass media plays some children are being taught to dress immodestly and to objectify themselves. Weak souls or sick souls if you would act upon these thoughts and do not understand or care about the consequences of immorality. Also, society has little by little expanded the nature of the family to be anything goes attitude and many have fallen away from correct principals. I don't know if this helps. We can learn from pedophiles, pray for them as victims and for their victims. We can also be proactive by teaching our children that they have a choice and that others have a choice to do the best they can with the knowledge they have at the time.

That same question could be applied to any undesirable person. Why do rapists, murderers? Why do drug addicts? Sex addicts? Etc.

I believe we are all here to learn, and to teach something. We are all strong in some areas and weak in others............Certainly the pedophile teaches us to be more cautious with our children. To place more value on their lives, as do the murderers and rapists. Maybe the idea is for us to work harder on being kinder to each other so there will be fewer dis-eased people around and we can all relax more and enjoy living.

"Disease" is just what it says......people who are not at ease in this world. All the way down to the overeater, shopaholic, and alcoholic.

Something causes that...... I think it's a real lack of love in society.

There is a saying: "Hurt people hurt people". Stop the hurt and it will stop the hurting.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I don't know, but it makes me furious when they let them go with a slap on the wrist. So-called chemical castration is a joke. Even the pedophiles themselves will tell you they're going to do it again. If that weren't enough look at the recidivism statistics! If we can't lock 'em up or lop it off I hope there is a special place in hell for them.

I blame society. When I see parents having their 12 year old daughter wear a shirt that says "I faked it," I think there is something really wrong. Also, when you have pop singers like JoJo, who was 13, sing a song about "Get out, leave," that adds to the problem. Also, recall Britney Spears "Baby One More Time" video, her age at the time was what, 16?

Pedophiles exist because they are individuals who don't have successful human relationship. They feel sense of power, dominance and fulfillment when they take advantaged of children. And they act out their fantasies on the young and innocents.

they just do. it's a psychological thing, just like any other kind of sexual interest.

the verbal attacks on pedophilic people i've read are ridiculously ignorant. there's nothing wrong with a pedophilic person. they can't help who or what they're attracted to.

there's a difference between a pedophilic person and a child molester. a big difference. and treating the two as the same thing is a stupid, destructive thing to do.

They are scum and should be dealt with harshly by our lawmakers and keepers. However, our laws are now twisted so that the victim has fewer rights than the criminals. I believe that public execution of these and other offenders would bring about a change for the better in our society.
