have a pic-nic durring the day then go see some fireworks on a beach some where

All depends on how old you are and how far south you are talking about and what you like to do..
The beach isnt very original not to mention very packed . If you are old enough drive up to the mountains where you can over look the whole city and watch the fireworks and can be alone and use your imagination. Its alot cooler and you wont have to worry about getting burnt or sand in every part of your body.

Head to the beach, there are great fireworks in Santa Monica or Long Beach.
OR
If you like symphony music I would suggest the Hollywood Bowl for music and fireworks.

doing fireworks
1 over a nice water type thing (lake,etc.)
2 at night with bright colors, bring a blanket for you two to use.
3 dont use fireworks use romantic candles or something romantic in a dark room
