How does a pelican crossing work?

you have to put the the differences and a advantage and a disadvantage for each! but how can i if i don't know how they work?!

Hi,a school crossing is manned by a lollipop person usually outside of a school or on a nearby zebra crossing.A pelican crossing is a set of traffic lights which work on their own or in conjunction with a main set of traffic lights on a busy junction.You will have to say what you think are the advantages and disadvantages with each..........Good luck

Aren't pelican crossings automated with red and green men shaped lights with a school crossing being manned?

school crossings i think are usually set on a timer. as for pelicans....we don't have those things here in NM
