Why is it that these people are so prejudiced and hateful to people from America "the states"? Like we "don't care about other countries" and we're "shallow" and such? No we don't watch soccer and we have more money and not as good of leaders (I have the same IQ as President Bush and I'm 16!) but we really aren't that bad. That's why people are coming here so frequently, b/c we have more freedom than other countries and much more power. So next time you start to make a rude comment about us, consider the fact that you are treating us the exact same way as we treat you. Please give me your opinions! Thanks! :)

The main problem is that a lot of brits are jealous of the us because of the amount of freedom you all have, in this island called uk we have a 'nanny' government who thinks they know better than the people who actually have to live in the cities and towns. I can only apologise for the small amount of narrow minded idiots who disrespect other countries. Yours is a great country and you have a lot to be proud of so hold you head high and keep on with that great american spirit and belief!!

First of all, you are being hypocritical by generalising like that. Second, where you say "we are treating you the exact same way" I think you will find that in the main, it begins from American. As for jealousy, why would any English person want to copy an American? You speak English, your "American football" is just rugby with padding. From what I have seen, a lot of Americans don't even seem to know that other countries exist let alone not care about them. A lot of Americans are shallow. I am not saying they all are but, there are the minority of Americans who are as you have described and they are the ones with the loudest voices. Obviously this happens both ways as you have just said "why these people" as if you have the impression that all British people are like that.
And I don;t mean to be offensive or anything but why on Earth would you be proud to have a higher IQ than President Bush?
I have only met 3 Americans(real not online). 2 were Mormons and 1 is the epitome of the American stereotype, ie. not very intelligent, more money than sense, is quite shallow, etc.
However, I have "met" a mixture of Americans online. Some are stupid, some are intelligent, some nice, some horrible, just as I would expect from anywhere.

I disagree. "people" who are these people? All Britain's...well I am not and I am from England. I love America.
Though, Britain is not jealous or does copy America. Our countries are quite close in a way and we influence each other, not copy. We both learn from each other, which is a great thing. With your frame of mind, we could say Americans copied us for our language (English..), etc etc.
I do not think they are shallow and they obvious do care....world wars? Didn't they help Britain, meaning they do care.
Why worry about the people do not like Americans? They are full or **** as they do not know every American. I have met some lovely Americans, and America is a lovely country.
Though comparing America to Britain is hard cause we're both different and lovely in different ways. Freedom, you cannot say America is a "freer" country than Britain, you have the death penalty etc, we do not.
In some ways you are, others not.
I never have made a rude comment, you tend to be the same as Britains anyway, and I have no problem with people from America.
In future why not address your question:

"For people who are shallow minded in the UK?!"

Erm why are you having ago at English people if 'we are treating you the exact same way as you treat us?' So surely if you treat English the same way English treat Americans then the question could be turned around- Why are you so prejudice and hateful to English? [though I may have misunderstood the question (in which case sorry) or be naive b/c i didn't think they did].
But anyway back to the question. Not to sound completely rude, but Americans over here have a bit of a reputation for being dumb (your president doesn't much help matters on that front!). Also a few people i know despise the way that our stupid government doesn't stick up for itself (i.e. Tony Blair following George Bush into war etc) and, in a way, that affects their opinions of Americans. Trust me, it's absolutely nothing to do with being jealous of Americans, that i can assure you lol.
A lot of people here are stereo-typical of Americans. I have a friend who lives in America and I think she's really kwl so I know all Americans 'aren't that bad' as you yourself stated lol, just not everyone knows specific normal people in America therfore just take accept the well known stero-typical view.

I'm English, and I don't wish to copy the Americans. It's just that our perception of Americans is usually through teen films, people in Hollywood, and the like. That is probably where the "shallow" remark comes from.

It isn't us who are trying to copy you, it's our Prime Minister, who is licking your President's a*se. I can't stand it when people I know say soccer. And I don't really give a rats **** about how much "power" you have, learn about how America got that power first, then try and be proud of it.

I'm not bashing the Americans, it's just the view that we get of you lot on TV. Plus, you can't say we copy you all the time. You've taken a few of our programmes, and completely mauled them to pieces i.e. The Office.

And to Tommy G, please do go on, it is higly amusing. And I agree with Bob, not the English thing though. I mean, how long has America really been recognised as a country? Three or four centuries., whereas all European countries, save those breaking away from Russia, have been around for hundreds.

I think that when most people say things against the USA they are actually thinking that everyone over there is like, for example, Bush. Many of us stereotype you. What I criticise are some individuals and a few policies, as well as some things that I have noticed when I go over there (which, unlike many who criticise) I have actually done very frequently (normally 2-3 times each year). The main problem between our countries is that both of us stereotype each other. We are not all extremely posh people who drink tea, or farmers that spend time rolling in the mud; just as you are not all obese and stupid, and you dont all want to go nuke a country that hasnt sent you a christmas card in the past 20 years.

1 point - i do not feel that the USA has greater freedom than most of europe. Feel free to send me a message explaining why you feel this, and I'll be happy to listen, and show you why I think you're wrong.

I would finally like to say that the majority of Americans I have met are incredibly nice, and really there are very few differences between all of Europe and the USA

That is completely unfair and very narrow minded of you to believe that bull! I am English and not at all anti American or any other country, race, culture or religion. Surprisingly there are millions of people who are like me too. Sadly in every country there are people like your selves who believe that and are hateful to others for no apparent reason, but i put that down to your own prejudices and single mindedness. Most British people are very clever compassionate and caring towards others, it's unfortunate that in every country there are a minority that give the good ones a bad reputation.

Perhaps when you grow up, travel and live a bit you will find out for yourself. You will also find out that just because you have a higher IQ than someone else that it does not make you a clever man.

I am English and well aware that some Americans are lovely, some of my friends are American. Please don't make such sweeping generalisations about a country or culture, and please get your geography right too. The UK is the entire United Kingdom, Great Britain is England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Isles, and England is also a country in its own right. All English people don't hate all Americans, I just dislike the stupid ones, just as I dislike the stupid of any other country or culture.

Every country has it's share or idiots, it just happens that the American ones are the ones with the loudest voices!

Only joking!

I'm English but I live in Spain and to be honest sometimes I'm so embarrassed to be considered English by the way people come here and act, but then I also see Germans, Dutch, Americans, French..... and some of them are acting like they are God as well.

The thing to remember is that there are ignorant people in every country, just try to ignore them and concentrate on the others.
