My video card can not support OpenGL for Counter-Strike, I found a video card on amazon.com called eVGA NVIDIA e-GeForce FX 5500 256 MB, 128 bit DDR AGP 8X VGA/DVI/TV Video Card (256-A8-N313-LX)
that fits my budget. Well this be able to play Counter-Strike?

Also I would like to know how easy it is to get this card up and running.

Also, if it will work on my piece of crap. It runs on Windows XP and is a Compaq Presario 5000 Series.

Please Help!

I think you should be more concerned about your computer. At first glance it does not appear that it's a system I would play any game on. It appears to have a Duron 900MHz processor. Buy yourself a new PC. Even if you did get a dedicated card for this thing, you still won't be able to play many games on it. The exclusion list will include FEAR, Prey, Half Life 2, Doom 3, Far Cry and so on. That being said, if you do indeed have only an AGP 2X/4X slot you cannot use an 8X card in it. Most modern computers had AGP 4X/8X slots but those have been replaced with PCIe x16 slots in new computers.

Assuming you do only have a 2X/4X slot then your choices are VERY limited. And here they are, http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=ENE&N=2010380048+1069609638&Subcategory=48&description=&srchInDesc=&minPrice=&maxPrice=

No modern GPU is going to come in 2X/4X form. In fact not even cards starting with the Radeon 9200 or Geforce 5200 series comes in that format. Well, you at least admitted your PC is... your words "a piece of crap" and that sums it up nicely. It's time for a new computer. You may have to put gaming on hold until you can afford one. Even a $400 computer would be better than the one you have now.

Someone said that your PC is "a piece of crap" only because of all the "junk" files you have on it. I looked at the default specs of the computer and it's slow because it is just that... "crap" and it wasn't the best when it came out either. Sorry man, I don't mean to put a damper on it but yeah... it's new computer time...

I believe the Presario only has a 2X AGP (maybe 4x) slot which will not fully function with the Nvidia card. Try to find an ATI All-In-Wonder 9200 or 9600 they are Open GL and 3D and should work with your system at 2X or 4X AGP

Short answer: Yes

Long answer:
1. nVidia provides updated drivers, and the sjpecs for that card are listed, and it would behoove you to check them, first, with your own eyes.

2. Your 'piece of crap' is only that due to slow, bogged down, Windows XP with its mandatory Crap Cleaner, Spyware, anti-viral programs that slow it down so much!

If you ran PCLinuxOS, that system would SCREAM!!! It is FREE for download, it doesn't need any of the crapware, and also tests by the PC Gaming folks proved that it makes computers process 8X faster in games.

Check out the 1400 games that were written in Linux or ported, and run in Linux 8X faster than in the Microcrap.
Linux makes that video card REALLY SCREAM!

which skill your video card does no longer have Shader 2.0, and does no longer have 128MB of RAM on the video card. So sure, your card may no longer be ok. No you won't be able to until eventually you've genuinely one of a fer playing cards you may do a pencil mod with, it isn't going. this is direct X, no longer Z, ant that has no longer something to do with the videocard hardware, and the video card hardware is what you want.
