Okay

First... work on you English and Spelling. You look like an IDIOT, when you spell "repercussions" wrong.

Second... I can tell by your arrogance, that you think your view of the world is the ONLY ONE or even the correct one. I question that "your story"... is without merit, seeing that you hate the person you're suppose to be helping.

Third... when making a decision... the "greater good" is always the way to go... over your "selfish" good. In the long run... it will benefit you, and other people... rather then JUST YOU.

Forth... right is right... assuming I'm WRONG and you're Right (which is entirely possible, since you are there and I'm not)... there are ways of fixing things without getting people fired. Try that first.

If you are getting him fired to advance your career: WRONG.
If someone gets fired because you've been unable to get what you need from them: RIGHT.

I hope this helps.

There must be a reason why you were chosen to "assist" this person. I understand why you might be feeling some lack of respect for the supervisor, but at the end of the day, your feelings are like your belly button. It's there but it serves no real purpose.

Your question is "is it wrong for you to let him get fired so you can advance your career?" My answer ... yes, it's wrong to do it for that reason.

But here's the up side of that situation. If you assist that person to resolve the issues, you will be doing what you're paid to do, and helping yourself in the long run.

That may not be the answer you were looking for, but it's the one that will get you farthest in your career. Oh, and the spelling thing? It counts. When people see that you can't spell they assume you are either uneducated or stupid. You don't seem like a stupid person to me, so it might be something you want to look into.

Good luck!

First of all, what are you're motives. If you go into the situation with poor motives, you may be seen as someone with poor ethics. But if in fact your supervisor is not doing his job . . . you need to step up to the plate as an assistant. You are their to "assist" whether you want to or not. As an assistant you need to take care of making sure that there is discipline for all those under you, and that there is no preferential treatment. It is not wrong for you to "let" him get fired, but it would be wrong for you to step aside, let the poor actions continue under you (you are responsible for yourself and what your job description entails, regardless of whether or not you are an assistant or the manager). Most likely someone will notice your changes.
However, if you notice a lot of resistance on teh part of your manager for you taking the INITIATIVE (something he obviously isn't doing), and making the neccessary changes to improve the business, then you need to go above his head and let the right people know what is going on. Just make sure you document instances, and go in their with a professional attitude with lots of examples, and specific things that you have been trying to do, but your boss refuses to allow, or hinders that task.

I would try to make a factual report on the current situation without assigning blame! Thereafter, whatever happens will happen!
