I remember a scene from a science fiction film/TV show that I must have watched when I was a very young child and yet I am not sure of the name of the show which has been bothering me for the past 20 years. Please somebody help me!! I would love to know where this comes from, not a year has gone by when I haven't thought about this scene.

These two soldiers rescue this old man from a spaceship in the midst of some kind of battle on a barren planet. They take the old man to the top of a crater when he signals for them to stop, removing a wooden ring from underneath his clothes, he continues to the top without them. The two soldiers look on, confused.

Holding the wooden ring straight above his head with both hands, he vanishes, surprising the soldiers. The old man have been wounded but he looked very weak!

My only thoughts are a cheesy science fiction film or the orginal battlestar galatica. I may have even dreamed it up!

I couldn't really tell you without getting some more clues, but I do recall that anthology shows were really big about 20 years ago, so it might have been one of them. Some of those shows told one story per hour or half hour, others told 2 or 3 little stories per half hour. They did a lot of sci-fi/fantasy/horror stories. The titles were things like The Twilight Zone (the 1985 version), Tales from the Crypt, Tales from the Darkside, Amazing Stories, The Outer Limits, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Monsters, Night Gallery, Friday the 13th: the Series, Freddy's Nightmares, etc. Perhaps it was a vignette from one of them?

Well that actually never happened in any scifi show but it couldn't be any other genre except fantasy so, I'd say you should work on it to make an actual plot and maybe you could have a scifi or fantasy show. So a little more work but good start.
