The smokey-eye look actually uses black blended with either silver or white. Use the lighter color as the base and apply it all over your lids and up to your brow bone. Then you want to apply black eyeshadow only on the outer half of your lid (making an almost triangular shape). Use an eye brush to blend the two shades together in the middle and along the crease of the eyelid. Use a whisping motion to sweep the shadow away from your eye and up towards the tip of your eyebrow for a more dramatic effect. It will take a lot of blending and possibly practice to get the right look, but that's how you do it.

Black mascara always looks better on younger women, but brown mascara goes Great on the more mature face. To answer your question apply the mascara only to the bottom eye lid this will make the eyes look larger and use light eye shadow such as white or beige to cover the entire top eye lid as a base or primer for your colors then place dark on the lower half to the crease of your lid and lighter color, but darker than the one used for base on upper half of your lid after you have applied the shadow take your blush brush and gently brush across your lids one at a time. This willl also help to make your make up to look more natural and not too dark. You don't want to look like a raccoon.

the look is very popular and its very sexy! first apply shadow base in the lids, so the makeup doesn't run, then use ivory shadow in the brow bone, don't use a sponge, use a shadow brush, then apply the medium shadow in the crease like a pale grey or steel gray, then dip the brush in black shadow and stipple in the lash line above the eyelashes, for a more dramatic look use black liner and black shadow, when using the liner in top of the black shadow use a q-tip or a sponge tip applicator to smudge the line and soften it. keep the face makeup simple use a pink gloss and subtle pink blush, try rose silk from cover girl. and shine city from revlon in the lips. another tip: smokey eyes can be done in different colors, so don't stick to black! use green, blue and purple makeup artist mally roncal offers smokey eyes pallette in QVC.

STEP ONE:
The eye shadow:
- First sweep the lightest shade (White) over the entire lid, right up to the eyebrows.
- Next blend the middle shade (Grey)over the eyelid up to the crease.
- Define eyes with the deepest shade (Black) by sweeping a brush across the upper lid to create a thick line. Smudge the line to soften.
STEP TWO:
The Liner:
-Line eyes along the top, bottom and inner rim of the lashes with a soft black eye pencil
STEP THREE:
The Mascara:
-For the finishing touch use noir black mascara

Use dark grey eyeliner - apply above upper lashes and smuge w/ a q tip. Use grey eyeshadow and smuge just a touch under the lower lashes. Then use a light brown w/ a little sparkle on the rest of the lid. Use a lash curler (if you want) then apply mascara - first a coat of clear or lash conditioner, then 1-2 coats of black, allowing each coat a few seconds to dry.

put the eyeshadow first then the mascara because if u put the mascara first then the eyeshadow will probably on top of the mascara and make it look like u have colored mascara.

Get a good mascara, one that's not clumpy or anything and just do it. Experiment and you can always wash it off and try again.
